Many taxpayers are getting calls from a person named Daniel Wiseman in the form of a voicemail stating they need to call back and make payment to the IRS immediately or they could face criminal charges or jail. When people call back or when they answer the original call, they are told right away to pay and may be asked for banking or credit card information. The calling number for many people so far has been (202) 459-4693.
Do not pay them, it is a scam. The IRS will never ask for payments to be made over the phone and will never ask for a credit card or banking account or routing information over the phone. The IRS accepts payments online, by check, and even by credit card, but not directly over the phone from a person.
Now you know this is a scam.
